Copper Silver (Brass) Quarter

The basis of Copper Silver Quarter is that you have ONE coin that is gaffed, brass on one side and silver on the other.  This coin will allow you to perform many different tricks.

We have supplied you with a real brass coin and a special gaffed coin.  We also provide a matching quarter, so you have everything you need to perform this trick.

Start by putting the brass coin in your right pants pocket and the real quarter, along with the gaffed  coin, brass side up on your left palm.

The real quarter should be overlapping the gaffed coin slightly.

Tell your spectator that you have a brass coin and a silver coin.  Point at these coins with your right hand.  Now close your left hand and turn it palm down.  In doing this, the coins are now nested in your hand with the quarter side of the gaffed coin on top of the stack.

Reach into your fist, between your thumb and index finger.

Take the top coin, the gaffed one, with the now silver side up, from your hand.

Say, “I will take the quarter and put it in my pocket.  (Your right pant pocket.)  As you deposit this coin into your pocket, at the same time pick up the real brass coin.  This will take some practice.

Patter #1.  Take your hand out of your pocket and say, “Watch carefully.  This happens fast.”  Snap your fingers and announce that the coins have changed places.  Reach into your pocket and pull out the brass coin.  Hand both coins to your spectator.

Patter #2.  Leave your hand in your pocket and ask the question, “If the silver coin is in my pocket, then which coin is in my hand?”  Your spectator will answer with the obvious, “the brass coin,” but will be proven wrong.  As they answer, open the left hand and expose the quarter.  At the same time, remove your right hand from your pocket and hand out the brass coin and say, “You were not paying attention.”

You have just baffled your spectator.  The two coins changed places.  With the Copper Silver (Brass) coin in your pocket, everything is examinable.
